Kokoro Karate Do is a Japanese style of karate founded by Shihan A. Fredericks. The style is based on Seido Karate founded by Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura, which is based on Kyokushin Karate founded by Sosai Mas Oyama, who studied under Grand Master Gichin Funakoshi, who brought karate to mainland Japan and founder of JKA Shotokan Karate. Shihan A. Fredericks has studied under Kaicho Nakamura, making her a 4th generation karatika. A superior form of physical exercise and self-defense. Kokoro Karate is a complete program of physical and mental conditioning which is safe and effective for persons of all ages.
Kokoro Karate Do is the ultimate in physical conditioning; it combines the benefits of aerobics, weight training, running, and swimming. Kokoro Karate Do improves your cardiovascular system, increases muscular strength and tone, and develops flexibility and coordination. In a matter of weeks, training in Kokoro Karate Do can give you a renewed feeling and an appearance of health and fitness.
Kokoro Karate Do Philosophy
The goal at Kokoro Karate Do is the physical, mental, and spiritual growth of its students. We are looking for highly motivated people who are interested in improving themselves both physically and mentally. At Kokoro Karate Do, the competition is with yourself not others, our goal only is that each day when you leave you are a little better than when you came.
Kokoro Karate Do is the one of the most effective and efficient forms of self-defense available. You learn to use your entire body as a weapon, developing the ability to defend yourself against assailants much larger and stronger than yourself. Men and women, old and young, have all found Kokoro Karate Do to be a practical solution to the dangers of increasing crime and violence. Begin to experience a safety and confidence that comes with being able to protect yourself and those you care about.
Who is Kokoro Karate for?
Age, sex, physical condition, and body strength are not important. We welcome all types of students: men, women, and children from all walks of life. Each progresses at their own pace. Everyone has different reasons for training in karate and this is taken into account. Previous karate training is not necessary, since special beginners’ classes are available. Special classes are also provided for children to meet their needs. We try to make class safe and fun, while enhancing self-discipline and self-respect and developing important self-defense abilities.
